First I arrived in Arizona, of which I haven't got a proper picture to
show you. Anyway, I came there to get my brother to join me on the tour.
Out of Arizona and after having visited Sedona and Flagstaff, you drive
through the painted desert. This is named after the beautiful
colors of this particular landscape. |

Like a wonder of nature, there is the Grand Canyon. It is so beautiful and
quiet here. Especially when there are no tourists, due to a governmental
"budget crisis". You can spend a lot of time here, without
getting bored. |
|
|
On this picture you can see how I pilot a Cessna airplane. I even had some
passengers who dared to risk their lives. But they were not afraid 'cause
they were all good
insured! |

In complete contrast to the tranquility of the painted desert and the
Grand Canyon, but still in the middle of desert, there is Las Vegas. Just
when we got there, the famous old Fremont Street was opened. Since that
moment a huge roof is used for a spectacular lightshow. We stayed in the
Golden Nugget and the 4 Queens by the way. |
|
|
Back on the road again we went to San Francisco. But before that the road
leads through Death Valley. It's white here and it looks like snow. But in
fact it's salt. This place can be very hot and that is why so many cowboys
found their death here. |

|
Here we reached San Francisco. We were lucky because there was no fog
here. SF is a beautiful city. In fact I think I wouldn't mind to live here
for some time. There is a lot of everything here. You should go there
yourself, when you find the opportunity. |

|
This is one of my favorite pictures. I don't think I need to introduce
this Golden Gate bridge. Nowadays it's not the longest bridge of
its kind anymore. But I guess that it is still one of the most beautiful
bridges. This bridge is build over the
gate to San Francisco Bay. It is very close to Alcatraz. |

This is the last nice photo I took of SF. The next day, the weather
changed and it became gray and rainy. So it was time to move on to San
Diego. |
|
|
On our way to San Diego we drove along the Californian coast. I thought
that sea lions are distinct. But definitely not here at this coast. I
could even touch one of them! |
|
|
|
|
Then I went to Washington.
Here -of course- I had to shake hands with a man who likes cigars
very much. Which I didn't know at that time by the way, otherwise I would
have given him a box. |
|
|
In Washington I also went to see the Capitol. There I took this picture of
the nice ceiling. It is nice to be here, at such an historical place. |

This is the last picture of the USA that I publish here. In fact it could
have been taken anywhere. But it seems symbolic for this USA tour after
all. |
